Gov Refuses Budget Debate with Lt. Gov

Never one to turn down an opporunity to be on camera, or engage a political street fight, Gov. Rendell has curiously turned down an invitation from Harrisburg's public television station, WITF, to debate Lt. Gov./Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati on the state budget. Hmmm. Last week, Rendell embarked on a five-day statewide bus tour to criticize the Senate's alternative to his budget proposal, and to campaign for higher taxes and spending, thinking he could make a one-side case to the media for his agenda. Unfortunately for Rendell, Commonwealth Foundation president and CEO Matt Brouillette crashed the tour and presented that nagging little thing called "the other side."  No wonder Rendell is all of the sudden gun shy.
