Interesting bill, it would lead to taxation of all large private schools, clubs and churches. Anyone that is a non profit now would end up paying for every square foot over 5,000. Not surprising that a group of Democrats put together this bill to save decaying urban centers at the expense of churches, hospitals and non-state schools. Also introduced in the Senate with hearing coming in a few days. This is a secret massive tax increase at the local level. It also sets up the ability of local governments to allow lesser fees for some non-profits as they see fit. This could and would lead to massive corruption as wealthy non-profits like hospitals could influence local officials with donations, jobs for family members and other incentives.
